Battlefield 6 Gamers Are Convinced: Tasks Are Excessively Difficult

The release of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 garnered broad praise, notably for its premier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, simultaneous player numbers reached a high of nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, in spite of its success, many players are protesting against a portion of the release's hardest challenges, which are necessary to unlock specific weapons.

Users have commenced resorting to custom matches created through Battlefield Portal to achieve these objectives, underscoring just how demanding these challenges have become.

Grasping BF6 Objectives

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, different from the frequently updated day-to-day and weekly tasks. The game includes four types of assignments, but while the majority merely grant outfits and select equipment, completing the weapon assignments is the only way of getting twelve from the forty-one key firearms present in the game.

Some of these locked weapons could shortly make their appearance on rosters of the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Player Outcry across Reddit

Over on Reddit, players are understandably expressing their worries about how challenging and repetitive a number of these challenges are. An individual player pointed out one of the most outrageous examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs

"This challenge is so terrible and completely out of mind, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a statement that captures just how excessively challenging these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many positive effects in fights as it had in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.

At the same time, hipfiring an LMG is highly imprecise and functions solely at very short distances, which is not usually a position you aim to be. That player also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that challenge would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and the other way around.

Another Extremely Difficult Challenge

One more community participant pointed out a further incredibly demanding challenge, within the marksman rifle class to obtain the PSR:

  • Achieve 150 headshot eliminations over 200m with marksman guns

This is difficult enough as it is, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at such a long range.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but because there are just nine battlegrounds in the game at present, it implies you must stick to playing New Sobek City, another expansive area, and possibly Operation Firestorm at a push if you aim to take long-range shots from beyond 200 meters.

The Bypass

However, there is a solution: Battlefield Portal. The custom game creator is a tool that allows you to create personalized matches on any map you prefer, featuring computer-controlled players. This allows you can exploit the mechanics… but it isn't truly in line with the intended gameplay experience.

Yet, if tackling the tasks in a proper game appears to work against fun, since you have to play in such an unorthodox manner that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can blame someone for grinding them out in a personal session so allies are not impaired?

Potential Changes

It is expected if a number of these missions are made easier in the next few updates, because should they remain unchanged, a portion of the user base simply won't get their hands on the gated weapons.

At the moment, the community continues to express their views on these demanding in-game tasks, expecting a more balanced player experience in future updates.
