Mario's Galactic Adventure Trailer Arrives, Unveiling New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. It was showcased in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that focused exclusively on the upcoming animated film.
The follow-up to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will propel Mario to the outer limits of the galaxy. There, he will encounter a fresh princess character and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
A Space-Faring Quest Based on Iconic Releases
In the vein of the Wii console classics that act as its source material, Mario will leave behind the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some familiar faces, such as the Luma, a breakout star from the previous film.
However, it seems Mario and his sibling Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who apparently utilizes powers related to metal. Worth mentioning, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also features references to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The movie will see the return of the original voice cast, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
The upcoming Mario film is scheduled to arrive close to the four-decade milestone of the original Super Mario Bros. game. In addition to the movie, 2026 is shaping up to be a major period for Mario and his companions.
Nintendo has three new games already confirmed for that year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
